- Farah Hafez -

Farah Hafez is a 38-year-old journalist, currently working for Dutch newspaper Algemeen Nederlands Dagblad in Amsterdam.
She fled her native Afghanistan at the age of nine, after her father, the minister of foreign affairs, had been killed during a communist insurgency. Her father’s death, followed by her mother’s passing one year later, abruptly brought Farah’s worry-free youth to an end.

The fear of unresolved trauma had lead Farah to avoid any confrontation with her past. The bizarre discovery of the heavily wounded, young, Afghan bacha bazi dancer in the forests of Amsterdam changes everything. The investigation of the perpetrators of this hit and run crime leads Farah to Valentin Lavrov, a Russian oligarch. A search around the world eventually brings Farah back to her own history.
